Seymour to play under franchise tag
Oakland Raiders defensive end Richard Seymour won’t be getting a new, long-term contract this season.
The deadline for players who were given the franchise tag to receive a long-term contract has passed.
Seymour already opted to sign his tender offer from the team, an interesting choice that signals he isn’t too concerned over getting a long-term deal.
The defensive end may be so disenchanted with playing for Oakland that he’d rather take his chances next year on the open market.
So long as the team does not give Seymour the franchise tag for the second year in a row, he will become an unrestricted free agent.
